What is Bad Beat Jackpot?

Bad Beat Jackpot (BBJ) is a special system where a player who loses with a very strong hand receives a reward. This reward is not only for the losing player — it is also shared with the winner and other active players. The goal of BBJ is to compensate the unlucky player with a generous prize!

Trigger Conditions for the Jackpot

The following conditions must be met for BBJ to trigger:

Omaha 2222 or better Use exactly 2 hole cards, showdown required

Prize Distribution (When BBJ Hits)

When the jackpot is triggered, the prize is distributed as follows:

  • 10% to the losing player (bad beat sufferer)
  • 4% to the winning player
  • 4% shared among other active players (even if folded)

Example Calculations

Example 1:

  • Jackpot Pool: $100,000
  • Stake: $10 / $20
  • Jackpot Multiplier: 15%
  • Total prize = $100,000 × 0.15 = $15,000
  • Loser: $1,500
  • Winner: $600
  • Others: $600 (~$150 each for 4 players)

Example 2:

  • Jackpot Pool: $100,000
  • Stake: $0.25 / $0.50
  • Jackpot Multiplier: 2%
  • Total prize = $100,000 × 0.02 = $2,000
  • Loser: $200
  • Winner: $80
  • Others: $80 total
